Washington Butler was born in Puyallup Washington, was always interested in the arts. She took part in singing competitions, performed in her high school's theatre program and was a singer in choruses. She studied at in the University of Southern California and moved into Los Angeles where she played Belle the beauty and the beast princess at Disneyland for about a year and half. She quit college to find a talent agent to audition for films and television. Butler appeared as a guest star on the TV series CSI: Miami. She also played a part in the web-series Luke 11:17. It was directed by Don Stark. Butler performed the role of lead in I Spit on Your Grave (2010) the film that is a remake 1978 classic film with the exact same title. While initially disliking the movie's brutality and sexual violence, she came to accept the storyline's feminist tone and powerful character.
